Jermell Charlo has once again called for a showdown with Terence Crawford.

Charlo called out Crawford immediately after losing to Canelo Alvarez in September 2023, having moved up two weight classes.

Two years later, Crawford moved up two divisions himself, overcoming Alvarez by unanimous decision in Las Vegas to become the undisputed super middleweight champion.

Charlo has not fought since losing to the Mexican great, but admits he would relish the chance to challenge Crawford.

“I want smoke with Crawford,” the 35-year-old said in a video posted on social media.

“If they gave me an offer to Crawford, it would be an honour to get in the ring with him.

“Just because of what he done, becoming undisputed.

“He completed something that I didn’t complete.

“So being in the ring with Crawford would be amazing.

“I’d give him the best fight of today’s era.”

Crawford is expected to continue fighting after handing Alvarez only his third professional defeat, behind Floyd Mayweather Jr and Dmitry Bivol.

The 38-year-old has been linked with a move down to middleweight as well as a mouthwatering showdown with Jaron Ennis, who recently won the WBA interim super welterweight title with a first round win over Uisma Lima.

Charlo, who previously held the undisputed super welterweight crown, also called out Ennis.

“I think Boots is a great fighter,”

“But I give him all the problems in the world.

“Styles make fights.”

According to Ennis’ promoter Eddie Hearn, the Philadelphia man has signed to fight Vergil Ortiz Jr, who first defends his WBC interim super welterweight title against Erickson Lubin in Dallas on November 8.

‘Boots’ named Charlo on a list of potential opponents after destroying Lima, but Hearn admits he’s doubtful whether the Texan would accept the bout.

“I like the fight, I just don’t believe he’ll take it,” Hearn told Pro Boxing Fans.

“These guys just price themselves out straight away.”

“If you want the fight rather than want a payday, let’s talk.”
