Terence Crawford has lost one of his world titles days after his historic win over Canelo Alvarez.

Crawford defied the odds to dethrone Canelo and become the undisputed super middleweight champion with a unanimous decision win at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas last Saturday.

The 37-year-old became a five-weight world champion and three time undisputed titlist, whilst handing Alvarez just a third defeat of his professional career, after Floyd Mayweather Jr and Dmitry Bivol.

The Omaha man was fighting for the first time since last August where he wrestled the WBA super welterweight crown from Israil Madrimov.

That belt now no longer belongs to him after the WBA stripped him after he confirmed he had no intention of returning to 154 pounds to defend the title.

Crawford has already been replaced as WBA super welterweight champion by Abass Baraou, who was elevated from interim titlist.

The 30-year-old secured the interim strap last month, overcoming Yoenis Tellez on points in Florida.

Baraou’s promoter Wasserman Boxing posted on X: “Official World Champion.

“And just getting started.”

Crawford extended his undefeated record to 42-0 after upsetting Alvarez and has remained coy on his future since.

“I don’t know [if I’ll fight again],” he said on The Ariel Helwani Show.

“It’s still up in the air.

“It could be [my final fight]. It may not be.

“I don’t want to say that it is and it ain’t.

“Everything that we put into preparation came out for that one night.

“He was frustrated [that] he couldn’t figure me out.”

Alvarez has two fights remaining on his contract with Turki Alalshikh’s Riyadh Season and the Saudi Arabian boxing chief confirmed that the 35-year-old would continue his career, which has spanned almost 20 years.

“I just visited the champ in his place. He will soon start his vacation with his family,” Alalshikh said.

“He has 2 fights left with @RiyadhSeason in ’26.

“We offered him to work with us until he quits and retires.

“I want go give a special thank you to @Canelo for the special gift.

“He gave me the gloves of the fight, and I appreciate it very much.”
