De La Hoya: ‘If Jake Paul Knocks Out Chávez Jr, What Now?’

Jake Paul and Julio César Chávez Jr are set to clash where we see a former YouTuber meet a former world champion in the squared circle with so many questions set to answered.

With Jake Paul vs Julio César Chávez Jr coming later this month Oscar De La Hoya had his say.

The matchup between former Disney star, turned boxing’s biggest heel and former world champion, son of hall of fame great – Julio César Chávez Jr is just weeks away.

The questions and comments that typically surround Jake Paul is whether he is a ‘Real Boxer’ but with his upcoming fight Golden Boy’s Oscar De La Hoya believes he can prove himself as a fighter.

De La Hoya said “Jake Paul can prove something here”, hinting that this win may be the one that Paul needs to get the validation he has been chasing.

For Chávez Jr – De La Hoya believes this fight can give him redemption towards the back end of his career.

Speaking on Power 106 Los Angeles Oscar De La Hoya said “Chávez Jr can get redemption, not just for himself but for all the people that hate Jake Paul”.

He also touched on the challenges Chávez Jr has faced throughout his life “He’s had it difficult, being the son of the father, the expectations and pressure; you know, he got involved with drugs”.

The American promotor went on to say “He seems like he’s doing better” after watching Chávez Jr in training.

De La Hoya also revealed a converstaion with Chávez Sr where he said his son is looking sharp and would knock Jake Paul out if he shows up like he has in training the last six-seven months.

Chávez Sr has been openly critical of his son throughout his career so this public backing and belief is bound to help team Chávez.

On the other side of the ring Jake Paul has a massive opportunity in front of him , finally proving himself as a credible boxer.

De La Hoya said “imagine if Jake Paul knocks out Chávez Jr, what now?” and went on to say “ Jr went the distance with a prime Canelo Álvarez”, hinting at a future matchup Jake Paul has publicly chased.

With just his experience alone  Chávez Jr is expected to be the toughest test of Paul’s boxing career as he looks to make a statement against the ‘Youtuber’.

For Jake he has revealed some of his possible future opponents, Canelo Álvarez, Anthony Joshua and Gervonta ’Tank’ Davis at a catchweight of ’195lbs’ as he continues to make headlines in the boxing industry.
