Floyd Mayweather & Robert Guerrero pass drug tests

In the aftermath of a big fight these days, not only do you have to pay attention to issues such as updates to divisional rankings, you have to wait for the post-fight drug testing results to come in. Well, they have arrived for last week’s May Day Pay-Per-View, headlined by Floyd Mayweather vs. Robert Guerrero, and both Mayweather and Guerrero turned up clean.

Keith Kizer, executive director of the Nevada Athletic Commission, reports that  all boxers on 5/3 and 5/4 cards were tested. Mayweather and Guerrero were negative for all prohibited substances, as were the co-feature fights, Abner Mares and Daniel Ponce de Leon.

The commission is still waiting on the final results for all of the other boxers, 26 in total, who were in action over the weekend in Las Vegas.

That’s certainly a piece of good news for the fighters, as opposed to the rumors of low PPV numbers for Mayweather vs. Guerrero, Guerrero’s upcoming trip back to New York for a pending court date, and other such news which hasn’t been great. It’s also good news for fight fans, who don’t have to worry about readjusting their views of a fighter and a recent fight due to a failed drug test.
