Full card for next Tuesday’s Boxing At the Beach in Coney Island

Dmitriy Salita’s Brooklyn Brawl series will heat up Coney Island on Tuesday, Aug. 25, with “Boxing At The Beach” at MCU Park, the home of baseball’s Brooklyn Cyclones, the New York Mets’ minor league venue.

In the main event, former world title challenger Alex Miskirtchian (25-3-1, 9 KOs) tops the slate against well-known Brooklyn battler Cornelius Lock (22-7-2, 14 KOs) in a featherweight clash scheduled for 10 rounds.

Cruiserweight title challenger Junior Wright (13-1, 11 KOs), coming off a solid showing in a world title challenge in Russia, meets rugged Michigander Harvey Jolly (14-22, 7 KOs) in a bout scheduled for six rounds. By way of Kazakhstan, and now making his home in Marine Park Brooklyn, Bakhtiyar Eyubov (6-0, 6 KOs) looks to impress his new hometown fans with another knockout performance as he faces Cory Vom Baur (2-3) of Spokane, Wash, also in six.

Meanwhile, many Irish eyes will be smiling as Emerald Islander and two-time Olympian John Joe Nevin (3-0, 2 KOs) brandishes his 2012 silver medal skills for four rounds against bantamweight Mexican mauler Victor Capaceta (4-7, 2 KOs). NYPD officer Dimash Niyazov (7-0-3, 5KOs) meets Ariel “Fuego” Duran (8-7-1, 5KOs) of Queens in a highly-anticipated lightweight bout scheduled for eight rounds.

Fighting out of Jamaica, Queens, Giorgi Gelashvili (1-0, 1 KO), a rising junior welterweight, is a former three-time Georgian national champion looking forward to taking on DeLoren Gray-Jordon (0-1) of Ohio over four rounds. Undefeated Brooklynite Gary Beriguette (6-0, 4 KOs) looks to keep a clean sheet as he faces welterweight Anton Williamson (1-4) of nearby New Rochelle, NY.

Queens firefighter and former Golden Gloves amateur champion Jose De La Rosa whose pro record increased to 2-0 (1 KO) after a victory by decision three days after his FDNY graduation, takes on NYC welterweight Kamal Muhammad (0-4) as part of Tuesday’s preliminary four-round bouts. The action begins as Puerto Rico’s Emilio Salas (2-1) opens the card by squaring off with Glenn Thomas (1-4) of East Stroudsburg, PA, in a four-round cruiserweight matchup.

Gates open at 6 p.m. with the first bout scheduled for 7 p.m. as “Brooklyn Brawl: Boxing At The Beach” brings pro bouts to the Coney Island boardwalk for the first time in 14 years. The last professional boxing event at the Brooklyn Cyclones’ venue occurred on July 8, 2001, when Hector Camacho Jr. defeated Jesse James Leija via a controversial, referee-halted TKO.

“I am very excited to bring the Brooklyn Brawl series to the home of the Brooklyn Cyclones in Coney Island,” said Salita, who fought out of Flatbush, Brooklyn, as a professional. “Coney Island is a world-famous gathering place and a hub in New York City, where people come to get rest and relaxation and fabulous entertainment. August 25 will be a historic event that will feature world-class boxing in a festive atmosphere. I encourage everyone to ‘punch up’ their summer plans and join us!”
