Lopez next fight: Teofimo Lopez is eyeing the winner of Ryan Garcia vs Conor Benn after beating Rolly Romero.
As a result of his majority decision win over Romero in Las Vegas on Saturday, Lopez captured the WBA welterweight world title and will be a keen observer when Garcia vs Benn takes place on September 12.
Notably, the victory saw him become a three-weight world champion.
Now, ’The Takeover’ is on the hunt for the remaining belts.
Meanwhile, Devin Haney [WBO champion] and Liam Paro [IBF champion] look on course for a unification. As a result, Lopez looks to be targeting a showdown with the winner of Garcia and Benn who clash on September 12 for the WBC strap.
After the fight, Lopez said: “This is the road to undisputed.
“I’m here to get all of the next world titles.
“Whoever the next champion is, that’s what it’s all about.
“We’re going right to every world title.
“September 12. Ryan Garcia vs Conor Benn. That’s the next one.
“We’ll see what happens there.
“Obviously, [my manager] Keith Connolly also manages Conor Benn, so if Conor wins it’s a great fight to take across the pond. I’m routing for it any way.
“I’d rather wait for Devin at the end.”
Lopez next fight – A spanner in the works
However, Jack Catterall, who hold the WBA ‘regular’ welterweight title, is next in line for a shot at the 29-year-old American.
Although Lopez is seemingly targeting unification bouts, Catterall nevertheless remains adamant that he will receive his shot next.
“180 days @WBABoxing which means November,” Catterall posted on X.
“I understand the politics of boxing better than most.

In light of this, Lopez was asked about a potential showdown with the Brit, while speaking to IFLTV.
“I’m the super champion, so we’ll see.
“Jack Catterall is a champion, man. He goes out there and makes the fight happens.
“We’ll see what happens with the WBA and my team.”
