Bob Arum believes that WBC heavyweight champion, Tyson Fury will wait until the conclusion of Anthony Joshua’s rematch with Oleksandr Usyk before confirming a decision on his retirement.

Usyk is set to defend the WBA ’super’, WBO and IBF titles which he ripped away from Joshua last September later this summer, with Fury holding the only other belt in the division.

Fury insisted throughout the build-up to his sixth round knockout of mandatory challenger, Dillian Whyte at Wembley Stadium in April that it would be his final bout of his 33-fight career and maintained his decision in the post-fight press conference.

The WBC were originally seeking a formal decision from ‘The Gypsy King’, but last week said they would give him more time to decide on what he wants to do next.

Arum, who has promoted the 33-year-old’s last five fights including two dramatic victories over Deontay Wilder, believes the Manchester man will wait to see the outcome of the rematch between Usyk and Joshua, which is targeted for July 23rd, before deciding whether he wants to pursue the winner in what would be an unprecedented, first four-belt undisputed title showdown.

The Hall of Fame Promoter believes that other than the winner of Usyk-Joshua, there are no other fights that would be of interest to the two-time heavyweight champion.

“I think Fury is going to wait,” Arum told FightHYPE.com.

“To see how the Joshua fight comes out with Usyk and then he’ll make a determination whether he wants to continue.

“Because, other than fighting the winner of Joshua-Usyk, there’s really nothing there that’s really of interest to Tyson Fury, so we’ll have to see.”

Fury, however has not ruled out a crossover clash with UFC heavyweight champion, Francis Ngannou who entered the ring after his victory over Whyte.

“This is going to be one very special fight,” Fury told ESPN.

“It’ll be something never before seen in the history of our sport.

“We’re not talking two guys around 140lb, I’m 270lb, he’s 270lb. It’s going to be an explosive fight when it happens.”
