Though their highly controversial fight was almost a year ago, there appears to be just as much animosity as ever between Ryan Garcia and Devin Haney.
In one of the most hotly discussed clashes of 2024, Garcia dropped Haney three times on route to a decision victory, only for the result to be changed to a no contest after the former returned a positive drugs test.
‘The Dream’ was not satisfied with that, however, and took up legal proceedings against his former foe, seeking damages for battery, fraud and breach of contract for what took place at the Barclays Center last April, although according to ESPN, the pair agreed to pause proceedings for 90 days, while they negotiated terms for a rematch.
The pair will be sharing a card in eight weeks’ time, with both scheduled to feature on the historic Ring Magazine show at Times Square on May 2nd, and a rematch between them has been earmarked for the back end of 2025 in Saudi Arabia.
And when speaking to the Ring Magazine about Haney, Garcia vowed to “beat his a** again”, though admitted he was tentative to engage in trash talk due to the lawsuit currently being waged against him.

“I kept it classy for one reason – he’s suing me. I don’t know what I could tell him. Everything I’ve said is now used against me. So I don’t know what to say to them.
“At the end of the day, anything I say could be used against me so what am I supposed to do really?
“I just realised that he’s that much of a b*** and maybe he’ll sue me for saying that! Who knows? He might use that in the deposition.

“He used a lot of my tweets in the deposition. Everything I said, he used against me.
“This is the weak state of mind this man has. He’s taking words and he’s using words against me in the court of law.
“I just want to beat his a** again and that’s it.”

Garcia will take on the brash Rolly Romero in the main event at Times Square, whilst Haney faces former world champion. Jose Ramirez in the chief support.
Though the young stars have spent their careers at either lightweight or super lightweight up until this point, they will both be making the move up to the welterweight limit of 147lbs.
