Harlem Eubank says he’ll be fulfilling a dream when he fights on the same card as his cousin, Chris Eubank Jr in Cardiff on Saturday night.

Harlem Eubank looks to extended his unbeaten professional record when he faces Viorel Simion on the undercard of Chris Eubank Jr’s middleweight grudge match against Liam Williams at the Motorpoint Arena, live on Sky Sports.

The super lightweight talent, who joined forces with his cousin’s promotional team, Wasserman Boxing in September, says ‘Next Gen’ has inspired him throughout his 12-fight career.

“It’s a milestone in my career,” the 27-year-old told proboxing-fans.com at Thursday’s press conference.

“It’s definitely one of my dreams to share the same fight card as Chris and like I say he’s been an inspiration for me in boxing.

“It’s one of the reasons I’m in the game and progressing in it to where I am now. This is a big deal for me and I’m very excited to be fighting on his card here in Cardiff.”

Eubank says he’d like to have six fights this year, having only had one bout in 2021, a fifth round retirement victory over Nika Nakashidze in Riga in October.

The Brighton man shares the same trainer as Williams in highly-respected coach, Adam Booth and given his family ties with Eubank Jr, Harlem says he has been training separately from the Welshman, in what he admits has become an awkward situation.

“I’ve set different training times, so that I’m not in the gym with him,” Eubank added.

“Because, it’s awkward building that camaraderie, like I’ve said this whole fight week, it’s awkward if you’re building camaraderie when ultimately I want my family to win and push on.

“So, it’s been awkward, but I haven’t seen too much of him, because I’m in the gym at a different time, but obviously we’ve crossed paths a few times as well.

“There’s not too much to say about it, it’s awkward, it’s not ideal, but it’s one of them scenarios.

“Life is not always straight forward and boxing definitely isn’t always straight forward.”
