Light heavyweight prospect, John Hedges is aiming for a busy 2022 and is eyeing as many as six bouts.

Hedges (4-0) fights for the fifth time as a professional against Aleksander Nagolski on February 27 at the O2 Arena on the undercard of Lawrence Okolie’s WBO light heavyweight title defence against Michal Cieslak, live on DAZN.

‘The Gentleman’, who is signed to Eddie Hearn’s Matchroom Boxing won three fights last year, taking his professional record to 4-0 and is aiming to push on this year.

“I’m developing every day,” Hedges told proboxing-fans.com on Wednesday.

“Feel probably one of the best I’ve ever felt before a fight.

“Everything’s looking good, my weight’s looking good.

“Opponent’s confirmed. Step-up fight taking on a fighter with a winning record which is nice, because it’s a bit early on, but it’s a good step-up for me and yeah I’m excited man.

“I just want to get in there and get it done.

“I want to stay busy to be fair. I’d love five-six fights, would be perfect.

“Injuries, you might get a little niggle along the way, it would be lovely to have at least four.

“But they’re massive cards I can’t knock it. The experience that I’m getting here is second to none, so I can’t go wrong.

“Matchroom are the biggest platform in boxing and it’s a privilege to be on their cards.”

Hedges returns to the O2 Arena, after securing a points victory over six rounds against Ben Thomas in the same venue in October.

The 19-year-old moved up from super middleweight to light heavyweight following his professional debut and the Mark Tibbs-trained, 6”5 southpaw believes he will end up at cruiserweight in the future.

“I like to keep telling people I’ll be [at] cruiserweight,” Hedges said.

“But, a lot of people are saying heavy[weight].

“I think I’ve just got to see how I fill out over the next couple of years.

“I’m not 20 yet, I’ve still got a fair few months until I’m 20 and then by the time I’m 22, I’ll know about where I’m at.

“But, I think a massive cruiser[weight].”
