Anthony Joshua is once again being eyed by an American heavyweight, although the latest callout did not come from Deontay Wilder.
Joshua and Wilder have long-been linked with a showdown since both men held world titles, although a clash has still yet to materialise.
Joshua also saw a fight with brash New Yorker, Jarrell Miller fall through after ‘Big Baby’ failed multiple drug tests and was subsequently pulled from their June 2019 clash.
‘AJ’ suffered his first professional defeat to Miller’s replacement American, Andy Ruiz Jr on his US debut at Madison Square Garden in one of biggest upsets in recent history.
Now the two-time heavyweight titlist is the subject of a callout from rising hope, Joshua Edwards.

Edwards, a 2024 US Olympian, has won his first four professional bouts all by knockout and returns against Zeno Vooris on Saturday in Texas on the undercard of Vergil Ortiz’s meeting with Erickson Lubin.
‘The Rocket’ named ‘AJ’, undisputed champion, Oleksandr Usyk and rising Brit, Moses Itauma at the top of his wishlist.
“Moses Itauma,” the 25-year-old told DAZN.
“People keep comparing me to him.

“Usyk, no time soon, but I want to get in the ring with Usyk.
“He got real good timing.
“And then I gotta say Anthony Joshua.”
Joshua hasn’t fought since suffering a devastating fifth round defeat to Daniel Dubois in a bid for the IBF crown in September 2024.
The 36-year-old’s return was targeted for February, potentially in Africa, although his promoter Eddie Hearn revealed to DAZN on Saturday he will fight before the end of the year.

Hearn held discussions with Jake Paul’s business partner, Nakisa Bidarian earlier this year over a potential showdown, but talks broke down and Paul opted to face Gervonta Davis in an exhibition.
The clash was cancelled earlier this week after it emerged that Davis was accused of attacking his ex-girlfriend in a civil lawsuit.
Hearn claimed he spoke to Bidarian and said ‘AJ’ would be willing to step in for Davis.

“If you’re asking me do we take the fight?” he told DAZN.
“Of course we take the fight.
“It would be a nice way to end this little journey.

“Should the opportunity present itself, it would be a huge fight.
“Never say never.”
