Lightweight Mikey Faragon Stays Undefeated; Cohen Says He’s Like a Young Gatti

Greg Cohen, Founder of Greg Cohen Promotions, wishes to congratulate Guilderland, New York, 135-pound phenom Mikey “Baby Faced Beast” Faragon for another great performance last Thursday night.

Fighting in the main event of “Spring Fever Fight Night at the Plaza” at the Empire State Plaza in Albany, New York, Faragon moved to 15-0, 6 KOs with a crowd-pleasing eight-round unanimous decision over Miguel Rodriguez (7-3, 3 KOs).

“Mikey reminds me of a young Arturo Gatti,” said Cohen. “His style is beyond exciting, continuously bringing the crowd to their feet while chanting ‘Mikey, Mikey, Mikey.’ He is already a regional star, and with some national television exposure, Mikey will undoubtedly win the hearts of the American boxing public. He truly is a special kid.”

Faragon won every round on one judge’s card and seven out of eight on the other two. For his performance, he was also presented with an Outstanding Fighter of the Night Award.

Cohen says he was most satisfied with the combination punching of Faragon.

“He was throwing so many fast punches to the head and body. Rodriguez came to fight, but Mikey kept him guessing all night. You don’t often see that big of a variety of shots from a young fighter. Mikey is certainly going to make a big dent in his division because he works hard and has continued to develop into the excellent professional he’s become. I’m happy to see so many fans in this area are getting behind him.”
