Floyd Mayweather Jr has weighed in with his opinion on Terence Crawford’s victory over Canelo Alvarez.
Crawford joined Mayweather and Dmitry Bivol in becoming just the third man to defeat Canelo to become the undisputed super middleweight champion in Las Vegas earlier this month.
Mayweather convincingly defeated the Mexican great in 2013, however Alvarez lauded Crawford as “way better” than him in his post-fight press conference.
The 48-year-old admits his former rival could be past his best and insists the Omaha man deserved to win the bout.
“It’s good for boxing,” he told TMZ Sports.

“It was exciting.
“The best man won.
“I don’t know [if Canelo is washed up].
“Boxing is a lot of wear and tear on the body.
“Maybe so. I’m not really sure.”

The pair have both remained coy on their future, although Saudi Arabian boxing chief, Turki Alalshikh met with Alvarez after his loss to Crawford and confirmed that the 35-year-old would honour the two fights he has remaining with Riyadh Season.
Mayweather is set to return to the ring himself in an exhibition against former undisputed heavyweight champion, Mike Tyson next year.
Tyson ended a near 20-year retirement when he fought Jake Paul last November, losing on points to the 28-year-old YouTuber-turned-boxer.

Mayweather has been competing in exhibitions ever since he retired with a perfect 50-0 professional record in 2017.
The 48-year-old was called out by Manny Pacquiao for a rematch following his draw with Mario Barrios in July and the former five-weight world champion has teased the possibility of coming out of retirement for another professional contest.
“There’s been talks [about having a professional fight],” he added.
“It’s possible.
“Not at all [against coming out of retirement].
“But we just don’t know.
“But as of right now, everything is going great. I feel good.
“Working hard each and everyday and I can’t wait for 2026.”
