WBA Lightweight champion, Katie Taylor will defend her title against Jessica McCaskill at York Hall, Bethnal Green, live on Sky Sports.

And her American opponent, McCaskill, 33, who competes in 10 rounds for the first time, believes she will expose mistakes from Taylor, leaving her vulnerable for the attack.

“This is my first 10-round fight, and I think we over prepare, and we anticipate the worst situation. We prepare very well for these things.  Katie Taylor, I see a lot of mistakes, and I just want to be able to take advantage of those situations.”

Taylor’s promoter, Eddie Hearn of Matchroom Boxing, has told Taylor to be cautious of her American opponent, stating she cannot afford to neglect her defence.

“It’s a dangerous fight,” said Hearn. “McCaskill is a big puncher. Katie Taylor took too many shots in that fight at the Millennium Stadium when she won her world title. She wasn’t 100 per cent in camp, she is now, no excuses, and I think you’re going to see a great performance. You’re going to see a great fight and a great end to a wonderful 2017.”

World champion, Anthony Joshua, heaped praise on Katie Taylor, ahead of her title defence this evening and believes she will be an instant success, “One hundred percent”.

Speaking to Sky Sports, Joshua said about Taylor, “You’ve got to remember, she’s got a country behind her. It’s not just a group of people to push you on, it’s a whole country that support her. She’s very, very talented and women’s boxing is getting very popular.”

“She’s impressed me with her performances and she’s only going to improve as a professional. In the amateurs, she reached the heights of what an amateur could, that’s why she turned pro. She will definitely keep on doing well.”

Taylor takes on McCaskill on a big night at the York Hall, as Conor Benn, Lawrence Okolie, Josh Kelly and Joe Cordina will all be in action, live on Sky Sports.
