Florian Marku has created a storm since March 2019 when he fought his second professional bout at York Hall, Bethnal Green and the whirlwind doesn’t look like stopping anytime soon.

Born in Lushnjë, Albania, Florian took to combat sports and soon realised he was a natural. Having competed in mixed martial arts and kickboxing Marku became a superstar in his home country.

Marku told proboxing-fans.com: “I have had over 100 kickboxing matches only losing four. In MMA I was 7-0.”

Aptly nicknamed ‘TNT’, alongside his ‘Albanian King’ moniker, Florian has five stoppage wins in seven professional boxing bouts thus far and will be seeking to halt his next opponent inside the distance on the biggest stage of them all.

The undefeated welterweight will feature on the undercard to Anthony Joshua vs Kubrat Pulev this Saturday night, December 12.

It will be Florian’s Matchroom Boxing debut after promoter Eddie Hearn added the Albanian to his roster of superstars.

Marku is just a big character outside of the ring as he is inside it. Alongside the thousands of fans who travel to see him fight live Florian rubs shoulders with sporting stars too.

Liverpool winger, Xherdan Shaqiri and former Arsenal captain Granit Xhaka have been spotted ringside cheering on ‘TNT’ whilst Marku was scheduled to be a sparring partner for Conor McGregor for a proposed Manny Pacquiao about which fell through due to the Coronavirus pandemic.

Below Florian recalls the time he watched Tyson Fury vs Deontay Wilder II with McGregor.

The welterweight division has been put on alert as Marku continues to aim for high calling out the likes of Conor Benn, Chris Kongo and Josh ‘Pretty Boy’ Kelly.

Under the same promotional banner these fights are one step closer to being made.

Kongo did offer his services for this weekend after Marku’s original opponent, Alex Fearon, pulled out. However, unfortunately a catchweight agreement could not be met.

Is Marku one to watch? At 28-years-old and staying extremely active Florian certainly brings excitement and action to the squared circle. Love him or hate him you won’t want to take your eyes off of him.
