Disaster struck the card at Coliseo Jose Miguel Agrelot in San Juan, Puerto Rico, as the bill-topper between Amanda Serrano and Nina Meinke had to be pulled and the show was instead headlined by Jake Paul vs Ryan Bourland.

Amanda Serrano was due to entertain her home fans with a defence of her IBF, WBA, WBO and IBO featherweight titles against Nina Meinke, but a freak scratching of her cornea while arranging her hair the day before the fight caused the commission to rule her unfit to box, and the bout was scrapped, meaning Paul vs Borland topped the bill.

The show went on, with adopted Puerto Rican Jake Paul (9-1, 6 KOs) the headline act, but those hoping for the full eight rounds in his cruiserweight attraction against Ryan Bourland (17-3, 6 KOs) would be disappointed, as Paul scored a stoppage win inside the opening round.

Bourland had fought just once in just over five years, and was no match for Paul, who had rebounded from a split decision loss to Tommy Fury in February last year with wins against Nate Diaz and Andre August.

With around thirty seconds remaining of the opening frame, Paul unloaded with both hands with Bourland backed against the ropes. With Bourland sinking lower and lower with each shot, he slumped to the canvas, with the fight being waved off in the process.

There was world title action on the bill, and Jonathan Gonzalez (28-3-1, 14 KOs) defended his WBO light flyweight title for a third time with a unanimous decision win against Rene Santiago (12-4, ( 9 KOs). Gonzalez retained by scores of 117-111, 116-112 and 115-113.

In the sole scheduled ten rounder, Christopher Diaz-Velez (28-4, 18 KOs) stopped Headley Scott (18-2, 12 KOs) in two rounds at super featherweight, and in the only six rounder, Elijah Flores (8-0, 3 KOs) halted Alejandro Munera (8-8-4, 7 KOs) in four rounds at welterweight.

In four round contests, Krystal Rosado-Ortiz (3-0, 1 KO) claimed a majority verdict against Gloria Munguilla (5-1, 0 KOs) at super flyweight, and super lightweight debutants Omar Pacheco (0-0-1) and Christopher Diaz (0-0-1) fought to a majority draw. At featherweight, Javon Walton (1-0-1, 1 KO) and Joshua Torres (0-1-2), was also ruled a majority draw.
