Lauren Price believes Natasha Jonas has been forced into fighting her, ahead of their unification clash on March 7.

Price will put her WBA and IBO welterweight titles on the line when she faces IBF and WBC champion, Jonas at the Royal Albert Hall, live on Sky Sports.

Jonas’ trainer, Joe Gallagher has spoken of his preference to see the 40-year-old retire and Price, who won Olympic Gold in 2021, has questioned whether her rival wanted to face her.

“I don’t think any of them wanted the fight,” the 30-year-old told proboxing-fans.com.

“But like I said she holds two belts, I hold three and it’s just a great fight to make.

“The fight is signed and sealed and it’s announced, so we’ll see who’s the best on March 7.

“If you look at my amateur record, Olympic Gold medalist, I haven’t lost a round as a pro.

“The performance I put on against [Jessica] McCaskill in Cardiff against a legitimate world champion, the proof is in the pudding.

“I get it. I’m in my youth.

“She’s coming towards the end of my career and I don’t blame her, but at the end of the day she’s has something I want and that it is it really, there’s nothing personal.”

Jonas secured the WBC crown with a unanimous decision win over then-champion Ivana Habazin in Liverpool in December, moments after Price had destroyed Bexcy Mateus in three rounds on the same bill.

The pair then clashed during a heated post-fight interview to confirm their upcoming meeting.

The Welshwoman believes her youth, speed and ring generalship will see her overcome the experienced Liverpool native, eight weeks on Friday.

Asked what her advantages over Jonas are, Price added: “Probably my youth.

“Reading the fight, my ring IQ, my speed.

“The little feints, triggers I do, people reading me.

“They all say they’re going to do this, they’re going to do that until I’m in front of them, so we’ll see on March 7th.

“But overall I believe that I’m just better and I believe I win.”
