Ruslan Provodnikov (24-3, 17 KO’s) scored a 5th round stoppage over Jose Luis Castillo (66-13-1) in Moscow on Friday. The fight, which has been much criticized by many fans and media members as a potentially dangerous bout for Castillo, also signaled Provodnikov’s homecoming to the Russian ring.

With the comeback win out of the way, hopefully the always exciting and aggressive Provodnikov is back in against top opposition shortly. And hopefully Castillo is fine after suffering a TKO defeat.

Additionally, Hollywood actor Mickey Rourke returned to the ring at the age of 62, following a 20 year absence, and scored a 2nd round stoppage against his now 1-10 opponent. The fight is now being called an “exhibition”, although Rourke said he hopes to fight at least four more times in Russia. He said he is working through some personal issues in his life and using boxing as an escape.

We have several videos for you here, including one on one interviews with Provodnikov and Rourke, and the entire post-fight press conference. The fight was promoted by Artie Pelullo’s Banner Promotions and World of Boxing LLC.
