At the top of the latest Boxxer offering at the OVO Arena, Wembley, Richard Riakporhe remained unbeaten, and scored an eighth round knockout win over Deion Jumah, who put in a spirited effort.

Riakporhe was due to face Fabio Turchi, but once the Italian withdrew, Jumah stepped in at only a couple of weeks notice, as his original opponent Mikael Lawal also pulled out. Both came into this one unbeaten.

It was a technical and cagey opening to the contest, with the first four rounds tight to call before with seconds remaining in the fourth, Riakporhe connected with a crunching counter right hand that dropped Jumah heavily. He bravely rose and beat the count, and managed to see the round out, but he rallied well, with his movement proving a problem for Riakporhe. Jumah continued to frustrate Riakporhe as the fight went over halfway, but Roakporhe found a superb straight right hand body shot at the start of round eight that crippled Jumah, and left him crawling to try and find his feet, but he was counted out.

Dan Azeez shrugged off a late notice change of opponent, and the British light heavyweight champion dominated Reece Cartwright until the fight was finally stopped in the eighth round of their non-title contest. Cartwright was brave, but ultimately outgunned, and his head was being alarmingly snapped back in round eight, and Cartwright’s corner threw the towel in just as the referee stepped in to stop the fight.

Adam Azim tasted victory in spectacular style, as he took a matter of seconds to wipe out Connor Marsden in their lightweight affair. Southern Area champion Marsden was floored heavily by a straight right hand within 12 seconds, and although he bravely beat the count, a follow combination had Marsden down and out. Azim’s brother Hasan Azim moved to 3-0, taking less than a round to remove Yoncho Markov from battle. Markov was floored twice prior to the stoppage.

Harry Scarff claimed the vacant English welterweight title, with a wide points win against Louis Greene. Scores of 100-90, 100-91 and 98-93 ensured the title went to the man from Derby. Joe Pigford maintained his impressive knockout record, making it 18 in 19 wins with a fourth round stoppage of David Ezequiel Romero at super welterweight. The visitor was down in the opening round, and then before he was stopped.

Caroline Dubois wasted little time moving to 2-0, as she halted Martina Horgasz inside a round of their lightweight contest.

There were wins for all three debutants on the bill. Shannon Ryan took all four rounds against Claudia Ferenczi at super flyweight, and at heavyweight, Jeamie Tshikeva did the same against Alvaro Terrero. Jimmy Lee dropped Jose Hernandez in the first on the way to a shutout points win at super featherweight.
