Dalton Smith looks to add the vacant European super lightweight title to his collection, and he defends his WBC Silver belt against Walid Ouizza at the Nottingham Arena on Saturday.

Eddie Hearn’s Matchroom promote Smith vs Ouizza, while DAZN televise this bill live.

Smith (16-0, 12 KOs) is one of Hearn’s brightest prospects, and after winning English and WBC International crowns, ‘Thunder’ then secured the vacant British title in August 2022, stopping Sam O’Maison in six in his hometown of Sheffield.

Two defences followed before the 27-year-old impressively took the Commonwealth title by halting Sam Maxwell in seven, and in his most recent outing, a vicious body shot took out experienced Jose Zepeda, as Smith claimed the vacant WBC Silver title in five rounds.

Now comes France’s Ouizza (19-2, 8 KOs), who fights outside of his home country for just a second time.

After two early career defeats, he has won 11 in a row and after a stint as EBU Silver champion, he won the vacant WBC Francophone strap last July, clearly outpointing Bryan Venant Fanga.

Prediction: Smith is a talent that is going places, and he could well be on a collision course with domestic rival Adam Azim this year. I don’t see him slipping up here, likely taking a win inside the distance.

Scotney meets Motu

There is world title action on the card, as Ellie Scotney defends her IBF and WBO super bantamweight titles against IBO champion, Mea Motu.

Scotney (9-0) became IBF world champion in June 2023, widely winning on the cards against Cherneka Johnson, and she defended once before adding the WBO title last April, taking a points win against Segolene Lefebvre.

Australia’s Motu (20-0, 8 KOs) is a dangerous customer, and was last seen in October 2024, halting Shannon O’Connell in four rounds.

Prediction: Scotney is a busy, hard-working type that has passed every test to date, and she may need to call on all her reserves to take a points win here, with Motu likely to push her hard.

Scarff faces Walker

A grudge match at welterweight is the second 12 rounder of the night, where Harry Scarff puts his British and Commonwealth welterweight titles on the line against Conah Walker.

Scarff (13-3, 3 KOs) overcame Ekow Essuman in November 2023 to win the belts, but dropped a unanimous decision to Karen Chukhadzhian in his most recent outing last May.

Walker (14-3-1, 5 KOs) comes in to this one having won three of his last four bouts, the last a points win over Lewis Ritson in November.

Prediction: Walker can secure the belts on the scorecards.

Remaining Undercard

In eight rounders, Hamza Uddin (3-0, 1 KO) should win his flyweight contest with Misael Ezequiel Graffioli (5-3) on points.

In six round action, featherweight prospect Nico Leivars (6-0-1, 1 KO) should remain unbeaten with a points win against Lewis Morris (8-3, 1 KO).

Super featherweight, Ibraheem Sulaimaan and cruiserweight, Traie Duberry return against opponents to be confirmed.
