On Saturday night, 24-year-old red-hot undefeated super middleweight contender Thomas “Tommy Gun” Oosthuizen (21-0-1, 13KO’s) retained his IBO super middleweight championship with a dominate twelve round unanimous decision over four-time world title challenger Fulgencio Zuniga (25-6-1, 22KO’s) at the Emperor’s Palace in Gauteng, South Africa.

Oosthuizen, who is promoted by Rodney Berman’s Golden Gloves and DiBella Entertainment, dominated the action throughout, seemingly having his way with the much more experienced Zuniga, winning by scores of 120-108, 119-109, 119-109.  Oosthuizen is expected to return action stateside sometime in early 2013.

With this homecoming victory out of the way against the overmatched Zuniga, hopefully Oosthuizen heads back stateside to continue facing some more top competition.

There are certainly plenty of options at 168 lbs, and with a stablemate like Edwin Rodriguez in need of a high profile fight, that would be an excellent place to start, and a real litmus test for both men.
