Gary Shaw Promotions is excited to promote one of boxing’s fastest rising lightweight prospects in Alejandro Luna (11-0, 8KOs) who will get a chance to showcase his skills on a ShoBox: The New Generation undercard when he takes on fellow California native Cesar Garcia (2-5-1, 1KO) in a scheduled 8 round bout.

In addition to being a promising boxer, Alejandro Luna grew up as a “Charro” in a family of Mexican cowboys, who competed in “Charrería’s” around his local area. In this photo he’s competing at a national event. All his family members, his dad and uncles are all involved in the sport of rodeos, “Charreadas” in Spanish. His popularity is rapidly growing with each bout and rodeo event.

This will be Luna’s 2013 debut and it will be his first 8 round fight as he continues to make strides in his career. Luna is one of boxing’s most exciting young stars and maintains a healthy KO/TKO rate, earning stoppages in all but 3 of his 11 pro victories.

As he makes his way up the ladder Luna is aware that every bout is equally important for various reasons and he must gain as much experience as he can from each outing so that he can equip himself with the necessary attributes.

“I try to take something away from every fight. I know that this is my time to build myself as a fighter. You can’t overlook the importance of a single showing and this is my time to make fans take interest in me based solely off of my performances. I want to be a fan’s kind of fighter, I’m looking to get the respect of the boxing community and earn my spot,” Luna said.

Gary Shaw is impressed with his fighters’ fan reception at such an early stage in his career and he thinks that Luna can capitalize off of his natural abilities combined with his allure from the fans’ perspective.

“He really has a strong fan base, there is something about this kid that resonates and sticks with the fans that have gotten the chance to see him. It isn’t a matter of figuring out how to present him to an audience, it’s only a matter of people getting the chance to see him and once they do they’re hooked. What can I say, the kid fights in a manner worthy of a loyal following and I think that he’s the perfect combination of skillful artists and brutal fighter,” Shaw said of Luna.

The card will take place at the Morongo Casino Resort & Spa in Cabazon, California on Friday, February 22nd. Luna is from Whittier, California where he enjoys a very supportive fan base made up of mostly Hispanic/Mexican fight fans.

Tickets priced $35 and $55 are on sale at the Morongo Casino Box Office or by calling the Box Office hotline at (951) 755-5391. They are also available by calling Ticketmaster (800) 745-3000 or online at ticketmaster.com. Doors open on fight night at 5 p.m. The first fight starts at 5:30 p.m.
