Video: Alfredo Angulo on his 7 months locked up in detention center

By now, most fight fans know the story of Alredo Angulo, and how he was detained for roughly seven months due to visa issues. Angulo is now lined up for one of the toughest fights of his career, against Cuban slickster Erislandy Lara. In this video, you’ll get a behind the scenes glimpse of Angulo and his time locked up in detention center, and his thoughts on the experience.

Here’s some of what Angulo has to say, in his own words:

“They say this is not a prison, they say it’s a detention center. I don’t see a difference between a prison and the detention center I find myself in.

I was detained for 7 months, because my visa expired. After the third day, the director of the facility told me that he was never going to let me out.

The process was long and hard for me.”

Alfredo Angulo has one of the most inspirational stories in boxing.
