Video: Freddie Roach talks Manny Pacquiao’s health & comeback

The topic of Manny Pacquiao’s health and his future in the sport of boxing has been largely discussed since his devastating knockout loss to Juan Manuel Marquez last year. Trainer Freddie Roach has never shied away from the topic either. In this video, Roach discusses Pacquiao’s health, his stance on Pacquiao continuing fighting, for how long, and under what conditions, and more. Take a look.

Crystina Poncher interviewed Roach in the midst of the Manny Pacquiao vs. Brandon Rios press tour.

Roach touches on a lot of subjects, including his desire for Pacquiao to not come back earlier in the year when he had originally desired.

“He wanted to come back in April… I thought he should take some more time off,” Roach said, referencing that he wanted Pacquiao to return to 100% health, and noting the impact of concussions on fighters and also athletes in other sports such as football and hockey.

Also in the video, you’ll see Pacquiao and Rios on the podium discussing the bout, and you’ll also get to see a quick segment with trainer Robert Garcia as well, who of course will be in Bam Bam’s corner.
