Ben Whittaker has been called out for a fight with another British fighter.
Whittaker is unbeaten in 13 professional bouts, with his only blemish a draw with Liam Cameron, which he avenged with a second round knockout.
‘The Surgeon’ is closing in on a maiden world title shot and challenges Conor Wallace in a final eliminator for the IBF heavyweight world title held by Dmitry Bivol, on October 3 in Birmingham.
The 2020 Olympic silver medalist has been linked with a future clash with three-time world title challenger, Anthony Yarde.
And Yarde’s trainer and manager, Tunde Ajayi admits his charge would relish a meeting with the 29-year-old.
“We’ve spoken to [Whittaker’s promoter, Matchroom CEO] Frank [Smith],” Ajayi told talkSPORT.
“They told us he wasn’t going to be ready until early next year.
“Ben is on his trajectory now.
“People always try to build their name off Anthony Yarde and I don’t want Ben Whittaker to be another Joshua Buatsi where your whole career is built off that.
“We want to see that fight. Anthony Yarde vs Joshua Buatsi, but we want to see AY probably against the new up-and-comer.
“Anthony would relish a fight against him if the opportunity arose.
“I don’t want to step on his toes or anything, but if you want a fight, you know AY’s your man.
“He’s a man that’s proven himself over and over again.”

Whittaker shined on his US debut in June, blasting out Richard Rivera in the second round in Brooklyn on the undercard of Jaron Ennis’ seventh round stoppage of Xander Zayas.
Yarde has been out of the ring since November, where he was halted by David Benavidez in seven rounds in Riyadh.
It was the 35-year-old’s third attempt at a world light heavyweight title, after previously falling short against Artur Beterbiev and Sergey Kovalev respectively.
