Billam-Smith vs Clarke results: Cheavon Clarke stopped Chris Billam-Smith with a shock seventh round stoppage victory at the Copper Box Arena. Check out the Billam-Smith vs Clarke report.

Clarke dropped Billam-Smith down twice in the seventh round. A follow-up assault prompted referee Lee Every to stop the contest.

Much of the build-up had centered around Clarke’s win over Billam-Smith in the amateurs 10 years ago.

In fact, it was Clarke who got the best of a messy first round. A right hand towards the end saw him nick it.

Billam-Smith, who stopped Ryan Rozicki in June, struggled to find his rhythm and took further punishment in the third round. A left hook and a right hand detonated on the Bournemouth man.

A huge right hand from Clarke connected clean on Billam-Smith in the fifth. But, the former cruiserweight world champion took it well.

The 36-year-old did respond with some solid body shots and had his best round to date in the sixth, connecting with combinations to head and body.

However, the Bournemouth man unraveled in the seventh. A huge right hand dropped Billam-Smith.

Despite getting up to his feet, he was soon down again after stumbling into the ropes following a barrage of blows.

Billam-Smith bravely rose again, but Clarke sensed the finish.

With his rival on unsteady legs, Clarke reined in two hard right hands and referee Lee Every stepped in.

Bentley battles past Mosley Jr

Denzel Bentley made a successful Zuffa debut outpointing Shane Mosley Jr in their middleweight clash.

Bentley was fighting for the first time under the Zuffa banner and for the first time since he was controversially stripped of his WBO middleweight world title.

The home favourite dropped Mosley in the second round. A jab and a right hand staggered the American. A follow-up right hand had him on the deck.

Bentley went for the finish, but Mosley held firm. The visitor got the best of the middle rounds, as Bentley laboured.

However, the 31-year-old closed the fight strong, dominating the final few rounds with some slick movement and accurate shots.

Scores of 96-94, 96-93, 95-94 confirmed Bentley’s victory.
