Camacho Jr. withdraws from tomorrow’s FNF with hand injury

Update: Mitchell Replaces Camacho Jr. in Co-Feature on ESPN’s Friday Night Fights

Middleweight Eric Mitchell (23-8-1, 11 KOs) and former middleweight title challenger Elvin “The Lycan” Ayala (24-5-1, 11 KOs) will meet in the 8-round co-feature on ESPN’s Friday Night Fights presented by Corona Extra March 30. Mitchell replaces Hector Camacho Jr. who pulled out with a hand injury.

There had been much buzz coming from Camacho Jr’s camp about how much more serious he was taking this training camp and his preparation, and he was even working with his father in camp. So, hopefully this was a legit, last-minute injury worthy of pulling out of the fight, and not an excuse due to poor training or anything else.

Friday’s show will air at 9 p.m. ET on ESPN2 HD, from Mashantucket, Conn. Lightweights “Hammerin’” Hank Lundy (21-1-1, 11 KOs) and “Dangerous” Dannie Williams (21-1, 17 KOs) will meet in the 10-round main event.

Lundy vs. Williams is a very intriguing clash of lightweight prospects, with the winner of the bout becoming a legit contender in the division. There has been a lot of trash talk between both camps for months leading up to this one, so hopefully the main event doesn’t disappoint.
