On Friday afternoon in San Antonio, TX, the official weigh-ins were held for Saturday’s HBO Boxing doubleheader: Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. vs. Bryan Vera II, and Orlando Salido vs. Vasyl Lomachenko. Former champ Juan Diaz, based in Houston, is in action on the undercard as he continues his comeback.
Check out the full Chavez Jr. vs. Vera rematch weigh-in results. Was there any controversy on the scales this time?
Chavez Jr vs. Vera Weigh-in Photos
*Also included in the above photo gallery are pictures from Thursday’s final press conference, which all of the fighters attended.
Chavez Jr. vs. Vera Weights
- Julio Cesar Chavez Jr.: 167.5 lbs
- Bryan Vera: 167.5 lbs
Chavez actually made weight! No controversy! He looks to be in much better condition as well. Each man was confident, and there was no stare down or animosity, they’re just ready to get in the ring and take care of business.
Salido vs. Lomachenko Weights
- Orlando Salido: 128 lbs
- Vasyl Lomachenko: 125.25 lbs
The weigh-in controversy ended up coming anyway. Since Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. wouldn’t have an issue, who would it be? How about Orlando Salido!
Salido seemed very dehydrated as he stepped up to the scales and weighed two pounds over the featherweight limit of 126 lbs. He’ll have some time to go back and cut the remaining weight, but it seems unlikely from the looks of things, from my perspective. Lomachenko was shredded at 125.25 lbs.
