Chris Eubank Sr’s entrance for his son’s fight against Conor Benn will be remembered perhaps as much as the fight itself.

For months leading up to Saturday’s thrilling showdown, Eubank Sr had lamented his son’s decision to face Benn and publicly called him a “disgrace” for slapping his rival at the first press conference.

Many had hoped the 58-year-old would be by his son’s side, with the fight primarily built around his two battles with Benn’s father Nigel in the 1990’s.

The former two-weight world champion was greeted by a series of cheers from the 67,000 in attendance at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium after he was pictured arriving alongside his son.

Eubank Sr, who hadn’t spoken to his son properly for years, has now revealed that he sat down with him the night before to talk through their dispute.

“At 8.10pm on Friday night, I sent him a message,” Eubank Sr said on his YouTube channel Call Chris Eubank.

“The message said, ‘call me when you’re in private please.’

“Maybe at 10.10pm, I got a call back.

“Now I haven’t spoken to him.

“Junior called and he said, ‘I didn’t want to call dad, because I can’t hear anything negative.’

“I said to Junior, ‘where are you?’

“He explained [he was at] the Park Plaza.”

Eubank Sr, who sat next to former rival Nigel at the fight, did not go into details about their conversation, but has revealed that his son later sent him a message thanking him for being by his side for the fight.

“He had booked me a room,” Eubank Sr added.

“We went up to the room and we sat and we spoke.

“These were my words to him, ‘what do you want me to do son? This is your show.’

“He said, ‘well everything has to be changed now, we had an orchestra, a rapper and all were to substitute for me not being there.

“So when I came in everything else went.

“The only thing that actually stayed was the orchestra.

“Junior is not an emotional human being.

“He sent me a message saying ‘glad you are here.’”

Eubank Jr secured a unanimous decision win over Benn and both men were taken to hospital after the fight, but have both been discharged since.

Turki Alalshikh, whose Ring Magazine organised the event, is targeting a rematch between the pair in September back at Tottenham.
