Fury-Joshua Wembley: Eddie Hearn says talks for a Fury- Joshua showdown at Wembley Stadium have “reopened” amid a row over the venue.
The Fury-Joshua Wembley fight has appeared on course to land at Madison Square Garden in New York instead. However, ‘AJ’s promoter, Eddie Hearn has been pushing for it to land in the UK.
Particularly, Saudi organisers and Netflix are pushing to stage it in the USA.
Hearn sent an addendum to Sela – the Saudi Arabian entertainment authority. It outlined the changes required for Joshua to agree to a New York venue instead of a Fury vs Joshua Wembley Stadium date.
That push toward Madison Square Garden sparked a significant backlash from British boxing fans, who want to see the biggest domestic fight in a generation staged on home soil rather than in the United States.
Responding to that pressure, the Matchroom chairman took to Instagram to confirm discussions for a Fury-Joshua Wembley date have resumed, writing: “I want to thank everyone for the unbelievable support!
“You have been heard and talks have now re-opened for Wembley.
“Let’s make history with one of the biggest sporting moments 🇬🇧 has ever seen 💪.”

Fury-Joshua Wembley frustration
While the Fury-Joshua Wembley talks continue behind the scenes, Tyson Fury himself is running out of patience.
On Thursday, the two-time heavyweight world champion said he would be willing to move on from Joshua and fight the likes of recently-crowned IBF heavyweight world champion, Filip Hrgovic.
Hrgovic climbed off the canvas to stop Moses Itauma in the ninth round of their heavyweight title fight on Saturday.
Fury was last in action in July. The Morecambe man forced Mariusz Wach to retire after seven rounds in a low-key bout in Thailand.
“One thing I won’t be doing is wasting my later years at 38 with a freak who don’t want to fight.
“So, I will move on. There are plenty of world champions out there who do want to fight, who do want to make some money.
“Agit Kabayel. [Filip] Hrgovic. Daniel Dubois.
“They’re all very brave men. They’re all looking for a few quid.
“So, maybe I give them a call and they can fight me in November, because [Fury-Joshua Wembley saga] this is going nowhere.”
