Trainer Robert Garcia has claimed Gervonta Davis called out Jesse ‘Bam’ Rodriguez directly.
Garcia stated that he had proof of Davis’ approach over a fight with ‘Bam’.
After over a year out of the squared circle, reports continue to emerge of ‘Tank’ eyeing a return to the ring in the coming months.
He last fought in March 2025, when he was held to a controversial draw by Lamont Roach over 12 rounds.
Some of the names Davis has shown an interest in fighting over the last few weeks include Devin Haney in a 144lb catchweight bout and Floyd Schofield.
Speaking to BoxingScene, Garcia stated that he and his fighter had been approached for a fight with the WBA lightweight champion in recess.

“One person that you don’t even know about, and this is why it is kind of funny to me. You know who else he called out?
“He didn’t put it on social media, but we have the message, the proof. He called out ‘Bam’.
“I am telling you guys, he called out ‘Bam’ and he said, ‘I wanna fight you next. I am going to talk to Al Haymon to make that fight happen.’
“This is what I am saying, it is a joke.”
Rodriguez currently holds the WBA bantamweight world title after knocking out Antonio Vargas in the sixth round just last month.
‘Bam’ has won world titles across three weight classes during his career so far: bantamweight, flyweight and super flyweight.
One name Rodriguez and his promoter, Eddie Hearn, continue to call for is pound-for-pound star Naoya Inoue.
‘The Monster’ is the current undisputed super bantamweight world champion after defeating Junto Nakatani over 12 rounds.
Inoue vs Nakatani was the biggest boxing event in Japanese history, so he will likely be looking for an opponent of a similar magnitude, and ‘Bam’ could prove to be just that.
Garcia appeared to laugh off the idea of a fight with Davis due to the significant weight disparity between the pair.
Davis last weighed in at 133.8lbs, while Rodriguez tipped the scales at 117.6lbs in his most recent outing.
