Eddie Hearn has listed four names as possible big money fights for Callum Smith in 2025, ahead of his return to the ring next weekend.

Smith has not boxed since a seventh round stoppage loss to Artur Beterbiev in their unified light heavyweight world title bout back in January and many – including Hearn – had doubts over whether or not the Liverpudlian would fight again.

However, it was announced this week that ‘Mundo’ will come back in an eight rounder on the undercard of Sunny Edwards vs Gal Yafai on November 30, with an opponent still to be announced.

And Hearn has stated that, once the cobwebs are dusted off next week, the former super middleweight world champion will go straight into a big fight in 2025.

Speaking on Matchroom Boxing’s YouTube channel, Smith’s career-long promoter teased domestic dust-ups against Joshua Buatsi, Anthony Yarde, and Lyndon Arthur, as well as a clash against Dmitry Bivol.

“He’ll return in an eight round fight, get rid of the cobwebs from the Beterbiev fight, and then he’s straight in!

“Joshua Buatsi, Anthony Yarde, Lyndon Arthur, even Dmitry Bivol.

“Any of these big opportunities at 175lbs.

“Just one little run out, which will be next week, and after that – anyone you want.

“I’m excited. Sometimes it feels like a new signing back to the stable.

“We’ve been with Callum since his professional debut, so I’m looking forward to the run out in Birmingham and then he will be in a big fight in 2025.”

Smith had looked a destructive force at light heavyweight before falling short against Beterbiev, having scored stoppage victories against Lenin Castillo and Mathieu Bauderlique in his two fights prior.

His only other defeat came against pound-for-pound star Canelo Alvarez back in 2020, and the 34-year-old will still no doubt feel he has enough in the tank to score a big win next year.
