It was a night filled with shocks at the Sheffield Arena, and Kid Galahad lost his IBF Featherweight title in a devastating sixth round knockout loss to Kiko Martinez.

Galahad was making the first defence of the vacant belt that he had won so impressively in August, when he stopped James ‘Jazza’ DickensKid Galahad vs Jazza Dickens – Results & Post Fight Report. Martinez is a wily campaigner, and a former world champion himself, but the Spaniard wasn’t expected to cause the home fighter too much trouble.

Galahad dominated the first four rounds, and looked well on the way to an easy night’s work, but he was caught by a big right hand at the end of round five that put him on the canvas. The break between rounds wasn’t long enough, and just seconds into round six, another sledgehammer right hand knocked the champion out, ending his reign.

In another shock result, Terri Harper lost her WBC and IBO super featherweight titles in a fourth round knockout loss to Alycia Baumgardner. The American was simply too slick for ‘Belter’ and she stamped her authority from the off. Harper was hurt in the second round, and two rounds later, a right hand landed flush on the target, and Harper was stopped on her feet, leaving dreams of unification in tatters.

Chris Billam-Smith defended his European cruiserweight title routinely enough, dominating a decision win over Dylan Bregeon. Two scores of 119-109, and a third at 120-108 reflected the Bournemouth man’s dominance.

Dom Hunt claimed the vacant Central Area welterweight title with a 98-93 win over fellow unbeaten, James Flint, while at super featherweight, Donte Dixon dropped Jordan McCorry on the way to a 77-73 win on the referee’s scorecard.

There were shutout points wins for Raven Chapman, who defeated Karina Kopinska over six, and Stevi Levi, who defeated Polina Golubeva over four. Khalid Ayub moved to 2-0, as he dropped Stanko Jermelic in the third on the way to a 40-35 win. William Crawley made a successful debut, winning every round of four against Steven Jackson.
