Teofimo Lopez clashed with his father and trainer over his defeat to Shakur Stevenson earlier this year.
Lopez shipped his WBO super lightweight world title to Stevenson in a comprehensive points loss at Madison Square Garden in January.
The 29-year-old is trained by his father and trainer, Teofimo Lopez Sr, who was subject to criticism for his perceived lack of tactics and uninspiring corner work.
Ahead of his move to welterweight to challenge WBA champion, Rolly Romero next Saturday in Las Vegas, the pair went back-and-forth in a heated debate over the loss.
“Every son wants to make their father proud,” Lopez said on Mr Verzace Podcast.

“When you’re bleeding.
“When they’re allowing Shakur to do all these extra things and you’re in there and you’ve broken the record for the most attendance in Madison Square Garden.
“And your trainer is not giving you instructions.
“They’re just talking you down.

“’Where’s your power? You’re going to hate yourself.’
Lopez Sr hit back: “I’m not even going to argue with you, because you’re blaming me for it.
“What did you say after the fight?

“You didn’t listen to your father, that’s what you said.”
‘The Takeover’ replied: “Because I’m going to advocate for you.”
Despite their disagreements, the two-weight world champion has retained his father as his coach for his clash with Romero, who has already guided him to winning world titles in two division.
Romero will make a first defence of his title against the Brooklynite, having captured the belt with a unanimous decision victory over Ryan Garcia last May at Times Square.

The pair have been close friends in the past, but Romero insists this will have no bearing on their fight.
“You spar your friends,” the 30-year-old told Fight Hype.
“It’s the same thing.
“He thinks he can beat me.
“I think I can beat him.
“I will walk him down.”
