Joshua Davison reunite: Anthony Joshua believes his return to Ben Davison will see him knock Tyson Fury out.

Joshua confirmed that Davison, who previously trained Fury, will be in his corner for their December 11 showdown. The long-awaited meeting takes place at the Principality Stadium in Cardiff.

The pair spent three fights together in a run which included knockout victories over Otto Wallin and Francis Ngannou, but came to a devastating end following a fifth round defeat to Daniel Dubois.

Oleksandr Usyk’s coach, Iegor Golub, trained AJ for his wins over Jake Paul and Kristian Prenga. But, Joshua is now back with Davison for arguably the most significant bout of his career.

Despite being knocked down eight times, Fury has only ever lost on points twice to Usyk. However, Joshua has backed Davison to guide him to a knockout victory over his long-time rival. That is something no opponent has managed.

Joshua Davison back together

“Ben Davison will add massive value to what I already know,” Joshua said to talkSPORT.

“And what I already know is enough. But what I want to do is land a perfect punch on Fury to make sure I can pin him to the canvas.

“We’re going to look, identify, execute and I’m going to make sure I fulfil the obligation that people have put on me, which is to knock Tyson Fury out.

“A lot of people have messaged me some with the same bloodline saying ‘listen, I hope that you beat that guy’ and I believe I can do it.

“But I just want to make sure and Ben Davison will help me pin Tyson Fury to the canvas.”

Fury Davison partnership

Davison spent five fights with Fury when he returned to the ring in 2018. After beating Wladimir Klitschko in 2015, he spent two-and-a-half years away suffering with drink and drug problems.

The Fury Davison partnership included his epic first fight with Deontay Wilder in 2018. he miraculously climbed off the canvas in the 12th round to salvage a draw.

Their working relationship came to an end prior to Fury’s rematch win over Wilder in 2020. That insider knowledge is exactly why Joshua turned to Davison for this fight.

Fury and Joshua came face-to-face for the first time at a press conference in London this week to officially announce their much-anticipated clash.

Since ditching Davison, the Morecambe man has been trained by SugarHill Steward. Following Wednesday’s press conference, the pair flew back to Miami to begin training camp.
