Mercer, Moorer, Cooney among athletes at Find a Dream golf charity event March 14

A huge selection of noteworthy athletes will take part in the 2015 Find A Dream All-Star Golf Event on Saturday, March 14th, which is being hosted by the Tampa Hard Rock Hotel & Casino at the TPC Tampa Bay Golf Resort. The golf event highlights a weekend of activities from March 12-14th to support Find A Dream, a non-profit organization that was created in 2010 to support America’s youth and veterans through education and sports.

“This event is on its way to being one of the most star-studded events, athletes-wise, with many different sports being represented to support one cause,” said Rod Ricciardi, Managing Director of Find A Dream. “We are bringing everyone together for this cause to develop some gyms and facilities that will help the children. Sports are all about discipline and learning, and that is what we try to instill upon these children to help them evolve. To have this many people and the Hard Rock Casino believe in our cause is quite an accomplishment, and we are very grateful for all of the tremendous support we have already received for the weekend.”

Among the scheduled guests for the Find A Dream All-Star Golf Event include Basketball Hall of Famer Julius Erving, along with current and former National Football League stars Lawrence Taylor, Brian Kelly, Clinton Portis, Duce Staley, LeSean McCoy, Darren Sproles, Antonio Pierce, Plaxico Burress, Tim Tebow, Laveranues Coles, Fred Taylor, Jevon Kearse, Rudi Johnson, Vernon Carey, Channing Crowder, Samari Rolle and Lito Sheppard. UFC light heavyweight Rashad Evans is also slated to appear, along with a healthy list of former world champion boxers and contenders in Ray Mercer, Michael Moorer, Bobby Czyz, Gerry Cooney, James Smith, Don Steele and Sal Cenicola.

“Find A Dream is a great organization that gives less fortunate kids the confidence to believe in themselves,” stated Sal Cenicola, who holds the Guinness World Record for most time elapsed between professional fights (25+ years). “My father always told me that, with hard work, I could do whatever I wanted. That is the message I have for kids today. Just be true to yourself, use due diligence and work hard. When you think that you are working hard enough, work even harder so you can make your dreams happen. Find A Dream creates opportunities to give kids a break so they can chase their dreams, and I think what they are doing is fantastic.”

Additional events are planned for the weekend gala being conducted by Find A Dream, including youth clinics and other fundraising activities. All proceeds raised throughout the weekend will benefit various programs that are operated by the non-profit foundation. Targeting inner-city youths, their programming includes boxing, football, martial arts, soccer and other sports, with distinguished athletes serving as volunteers at many of their functions.
