In 2014, Chattanooga’s Ryan Martin got off to a strong professional start in his first full year, by compiling 8 wins with 5 coming by way of knockout, and improving overall to 10-0, 6 KOs. Already one of the top prospects in the lightweight division, “Blue Chip” is out to prove that he’ll be a rising force by the end of the year. His latest win was a victory over Carlos Valenzuela via 6-round unanimous decision on February 7, in Hidalgo, Texas.

Prior to the fight, matchmaker Sean Gibbons had this to say:

“We are hoping Ryan gets rounds out of this match with Valenzuela. He has been making quick work of his opponents and we need to see more of the great tools he has before going into 8-round bouts. This fight will give us a bigger picture on how fast we can move him throughout 2015”.

In Martin’s previous three outings he’s stopped all three of his opponents who had a combined winning record of 39 wins and just 11 losses. Valenzuela, who recently went the six – round distance with Top Rank’s prospect Emmanuel Robles (12-0-1) this past October in San Diego, California should be a good test to start the beginning of the year.

Martin made his debut on September 16, 2013, and is promoted by 50 Cent.
