Savannah Marshall successfully defended her WBO middleweight world title, as she vanquished Femke Hermans inside three rounds at the Utilita Arena in Newcastle.

Marshall is in hot pursuit of Claressa Shields, and the Hartlepool native took care of business to move closer to a shot at the undisputed world title with victory in the North East. Shields had been taken the full ten rounds by Hermans in 2018.

Marshall won the vacant title against Hannah Rankin, and showed no signs of complacency here, as she pinned the visitor to the ropes before uncorking a superb left hand that left Hermans out for the count.

All eyes now turn to a long awaited match up between Marshall and Shields, with the champion wanting a meeting in Newcastle.

The Albanian landed a massive right hand that shook Jenkins to his boots and had the Welshman all at sea, and Marku needed no second invitation to open up with several hard shots that forced the referee to intervene.

Bradley Rea moved to 13-0 as the Middleweight dropped Lukas Ndafoluma in the fourth on the way to a 79-73 win on the referee’s scorecard.
