The return of Tyson Fury

It has been a very long time coming but it is the moment boxing fans have all been waiting for. The return of the heavyweight king Tyson Fury, on June 9 in his hometown of Manchester. The 29 year-old has overcome many obstacles along the way but he has pulled through them. He has been training hard over the last 30 months and parring 12-15 rounds and is looking in great shape. During the Press Conference earlier today, Tyson Fury believes he is fitter than ever before. He’s fully focused on taking back his belts and thriving in the heavyweight division.

Over two and a half years since Fury put on an emphatic performance against Klitschko in Germany. ‘The Gypsy King’ ended Wladimar Klitschko eleven-year reign as champion. However, he has been inactive ever since that memorable moment in Germany perosnal issues outside of the ring.and after regaining his license from the British Boxing Board of Control, he has confirmed his comeback. The comeback is scheduled for the Manchester Arena, on June 9. Tyson Fury has been working tremendously hard to get back fit with his new trainer Ben Davison.

A lot of potential opponents have been mentioned with the likes of Dominic Breazeale and Carlos Takam. However, according to promoter Frank Warren they will take their time in deciding his opponent and will announce an opponent in due course. ‘The Gypsy King’ believes he is coming into the prime of his life and looking forward to the long-term goal of retrieving his belts.

Moreover, the public are demanding to see Tyson Fury fight Anthony Joshua and Deontay Wilder in the future. However, I strongly believe the Joshua-Fury fight will not happen until Fury has had at least 3 or 4 fights. There has been an exchange of words between both fighters on social media. However, I believe Fury will need to focus on getting himself fully fit before considering stepping back up to the elite level to compete with the big dogs in the division.

Whether ‘The Gypsy King’ will be able to rewind the clocks back to the Klitschko fight and replicate that kind of performance remains to be seen. However, one thing is for certain, is that the 29-year old has that hunger back to make history once again and silence the critics who cast a dark shadow over his achievements and ridiculed him when he reigned supreme at the top. This is for sure an exciting time for the heavyweight division. I am very happy to see the return of Tyson Fury.
