Well, you can’t say that Freddie Roach isn’t confident about his pupils. At a recent media day held by Miguel Cotto and his team at the Wild Card Gym, Roach offered his thoughts about Sergio Martinez, and the upcoming fight on June 7th.

His choicest words, of course, were his prediction on the fight.

Roach says on Martinez:

“He’s a great athlete… a great soccer player… I don’t think he’s a great boxer… ”

Then he offers his prediction and reasoning:

“This guy isn’t going to last 4 rounds!

“He has no defense! He’s so easy to hit!… Again, he’s a great athlete, he’s not a great boxer!

“We [me & Miguel] have been boxing our whole lives. This guy took up boxing late in his life!”

He also believes that Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. would have beaten him easily if he had trained. Roach says Chavez basically trained 5 days for that fight.

That certainly goes against with what most people are predicting for the fight. But Cotto vs. Martinez is going to be an excellent match, and fans are very excited for it already.
