The long-rumored and anticipated Wladimir Klitschko vs. Tyson Fury heavyweight championship clash has been made official. The reigning heavyweight champion, Klitschko, will defend his titles against Fury at ESPIRIT Arena in Dusseldorf, Germany, on October 24th.

The arena is the home stadium of the German football club Fortuna Düsseldorf with a capacity of almost 55,000 seats.

Fury, 26, is from Wilmslow, greater Manchester, United Kingdom, and the official WBA mandatory challenger. The 6’9’’ heavyweight star is unbeaten and has won 24 fights as a professional, 18 of which have ended inside schedule.

For more than nine years Wladimir Klitschko has reigned as the World Heavyweight Champion – the second-longest reign in heavyweight history, behind only legendary Joe Louis – and has a fight record of 64 wins (54 KOs) and three defeats.

Five of Klitschko’s last six opponents were, like Fury, undefeated. The fight on October 24 marks Klitschko’s third fight at ESPRIT arena and his seventh World Championship fight at a football stadium.

An opening press conference will be held on Tuesday, July 21st, which should be must-see material, as we’ll get a glimpse of these two head to head, and will get a chance to hear Fury bringing his best trash-talking game to the podium.
