BoxNation adds Thomas Hauser to its team

The Channel of Champions, BoxNation, is delighted to announce that the critically acclaimed and multi-award winning author Thomas Hauser has joined the BoxNation editorial team.

Hauser is one of the most respected boxing writers in America and one of the world’s leading authorities on the sport with 28 books about the sweet science to his name and was the official biographer for the most famous man on earth – Muhammad Ali.

Hauser’s boxing writing began with ‘The Black Lights’, which is widely regarded as a boxing classic. His epic work ‘Muhammad Ali: His Life And Times’ won the William Hill Book of the Year Award in England and was nominated for a Pulitzer Prize and National Book Award in America. His books on Ali also include: Muhammad Ali: In Perspective, Muhammad Ali: Memories, and The Lost Legacy of Muhammad Ali. Hauser and Ali co-authored ‘HEALING: A Journal of Tolerance And Understanding,’ which led to their being jointly awarded the Haviva Reik Award in 1998.

Each year, the University of Arkansas Press publishes Hauser’s articles about boxing from the previous year in book form. The latest entry in this popular series – ‘A Hurting Sport’ – was been praised by ‘Booklist’, which declared, ‘The arrival of Hauser’s annual boxing review is akin to Christmas morning for fight fans. Nobody knows a sport any better than Hauser knows boxing.’

Hauser was awarded the Nat Fletcher Award for career excellence in boxing journalism by the Boxing Writers Association of America in 2005. He was the first Internet writer to ever receive the award.

Although a literary giant in the boxing world, Hauser’s writing is not limited to the sport. He has won further international acclaim for authoring ‘Missing’ (which was made into a feature film directed by Costa-Gavres and starring Jack Lemmon and Sissy Spacek) and ‘Final Warning: The Legacy of Chernobyl’, which secured his reputation as one of America’s foremost social critics. The film version of Final Warning starred Jon Voight and Jason Robards.

Hauser will continue his entertaining insight and commentary through a series of columns for BoxNation.com titled: “Thoughts from the Colonies: Updates on the Boxing Scene.” In addition, he will provide BoxNation with his trademark longform features and ground-breaking investigative articles that have shook the sports establishment.

Hauser says, “Writing for BoxNation is a wonderful opportunity to explore new frontiers and share ideas with some of the most knowledgeable boxing fans in the world.”

Jim McMunn, BoxNation’s Managing Director, is thrilled to welcome Hauser to the team that includes the knowledgable and respected British writers Steve Lillis and Glynn Evans and columnist Frank Warren. He commented, “Thomas Hauser is a great addition to the talent at BoxNation. He is one of the most respected writers in Boxing and our customers will certainly value his contribution to the channel. We are all looking forward to working with him.”

Hauser’s debut column for BoxNation.com “Thoughts from the Colonies” will be posted on Tuesday 7th October and can be found at www.boxnation.com
