Lemieux vs. Tapia Results:

The final undercard fight of the Canelo Alvarez-Amir Khan HBO pay-per-view was the David Lemieux vs. Glen Tapia middleweight match. Pitched as a surefire barn-burner with two big punchers, the two men could potentially be auditioning for a shot at the winner of the main event.

Lemieux started the fight quickly, and began finding a home for his left hook. When he landed them, Tapia already felt the effects, going up against a naturally larger guy and one of the best punchers in the business.

Tapia looked to reassert himself in Round 3, working behind the jab, which is what trainer Freddie Roach wanted him to do. But in Round 4, Lemieux leveled him with a left hook which sent Tapia flying down to the ropes.

Tapia hopped right up and was ready to battle on, but his corner threw in the towel to end the contest and save their charge. Tapia protested and was upset, but probably a wise move to prevent him from taking more punishment.

Lemieux was just too much for Tapia, with his offensive skill, power and speed.

David Lemieux wins by 4th round TKO. Canelo seems like he has other plans in his future, but a Canelo vs. Lemieux fight would certainly be a fun one.

Next up is the main event, Canelo vs. Khan! Be sure to follow along with our round by round coverage.
