Cleverly-Braehmer Set for April 2nd

Will Fight for WBO Light Heavyweight Title:

Interim WBO light heavy titleholder Nathan Cleverly will get his chance at the full crown when he meets regular WBO champion Juergen Braehmer on April 2nd. Cleverly had been lined up to face the winner of the Braehmer vs Beibut Shumenov unification bout, however, that fight was canceled at the last minute in the beginning of this year when Braehmer pulled out due to sickness.

Instead of rescheduling a unification bout between the two – Shumenov was jaded at the withdrawal, while Braehmer’s camp went to great lengths to prove the illness was legitimate – Cleverly gets to jump in and face Braehmer two months from now.

Braehmer is number 6, and Cleverly is number 9, in the latest ProBoxing-Fans.com light heavyweight rankings.

Shumenov faced William Joppy after Braehmer withdrew from their fight in the beginning of January. There is no news as to who his next opponent may be, but he might be looking at the winner of this WBO clash between Braehmer and Cleverly, and another chance at a unification bout.
