Dillian Whyte has added esteemed coach Dave Coldwell to his corner ahead of his crunch clash with Alexander Povetkin on Saturday night.

Whyte defends his WBC interim Heavyweight world title, whilst the WBC Diamond belt is also at stake against the Russian, with the winner on course to face the victor of the trilogy bout between WBC champion Tyson Fury and Deontay Wilder later this year.

’The Body Snatcher’ has a new look team with Xavier Miller at the helm following Mark Tibbs’ shock departure and Whyte deems Coldwell’s extensive experience with the likes of former world champion Tony Bellew as crucial ahead of his bout with former world champion Povetkin in the Matchroom Fight Camp finale.

“Dave is someone I’ve known a long time,” Whyte told Sky Sports.

“He’s experienced with Heavyweights, was in David Haye’s corner back in the day, and has trained Tony Bellew. He knows how to handle a big guy like Povetkin.

“Dave can offer secondary advice, or perhaps see something that I have missed.”

Coldwell returns to Fight Camp for the third time having led Jordan Gill to victory over Reece Bellotti on the opening night, whilst overseeing Hopey Price’s win over Jonny Phillips in week two.

Coldwell, who also trains British and Commonwealth Super-Middleweight champion Lerrone Richards says his role is to examine anything that may have been missed and admits he is excited to be apart of the event live on Sky Sports Box Office and DAZN in the USA.

“It’s just to be a second pair of eyes, if needed,” Coldwell told Sky Sports.

“I’m there to just help his coach and keep things running smoothly, and if I spot something, then I’ll give my opinion to him, and he’ll take it on from there.
