Chris Eubank Jr successfully defended his IBO Super Middleweight title and made his way into the World Boxing Super Series Semi Finals with an impressive performance over Avni Yildirim on Saturday night, from Stuttgart, Germany.

Yildirim, had the crowd on his side at the Hanns-Martin-Schleyer-Halle as he dictated the temp early on but the Brit was unfazed and in the first round, had Yildirim down on his knees, having to take the count after  Eubank Jr caught the Turk with an uppercut.

The second round was better for Yildirim though Eubank Jr landed more of the punches and worked his opponent hard.

The third, and final round, saw Eubank Jr’s aggression against his opponent as he landed a combination of punches pushing Yildirim back and then eventually a left hook saw the Turk hit the mat. The referee immediately stopped the fight, with Eubank Jr winning in three rounds via knockout.

Eubank Jr will now face the winner of the Quarter Final fight between George Groves and Jamie Cox, which takes place next Saturday, and Eubank Jr had some words for Groves.

“I’m here to dominate this tournament. I’m sending a message out there that I’m coming. George Groves, get through your next fight so we can give the boxing fans what they want to see. I think it’s going to be exactly the same as what we saw tonight. I’m not playing any more.”

George Groves vs Jamie Cox takes place on Saturday 14th October, live from Wembley Arena.
