Fury AJ WBA title: Filip Hrgovic has slammed the WBA for putting their title on the line for Tyson Fury vs Anthony Joshua. The Croatian has also given his Joshua Fury prediction.
The long-overdue heavyweight clash between Fury and Joshua will take place at the Principality Stadium in Cardiff on December 11, live on Netflix.
Following last week’s eventual announcement, Ring Magazine’s Mike Coppinger reported the WBA ‘super’ heavyweight title will be on the line. Given this, the winner will become a three-time heavyweight world champion.
Many have questioned the WBA’s decision, particularly as Murat Gassiev is the current WBA ‘regular’ champion. Meanwhile, the WBA are yet to confirm the news.
Filip Hrgovic, who won the IBF title with a stunning ninth round TKO over Moses Itauma last month, has launched a scathing attack on the organisation.
Hrgovic slams Fury vs AJ WBA title call
“It’s a bulls*** decision,” Hrgovic told The Stomping Ground.
“I don’t know how they find [a] belt for that kind of fight.
“Who did they fight in their last fights? I mean they’re both big superstars, but how are they fighting for a title? Where did that come from?
“These kind of decisions are killing the sport. It’s not good for the sport. Because of these funny decisions people don’t consider boxing a serious sport.
“It’s a bulls*** decision.”
Despite last week’s announcement, the Fury AJ WBA title fight had been clouded in doubt.
According to Chris Mannix, the bout was in jeopardy due to disagreements over Dana White’s involvement. Joshua’s promoter Eddie Hearn has maintained the contract he signed stipulated that White could not be involved.

Hrgovic makes Joshua Fury prediction
In addition to this, the pair signed two separate contracts. Joshua’s required him to enter testing as soon as he signed, whereas Fury’s did not.
Fury’s manager Spencer Brown has confirmed the Morecambe man has now entered the testing programme.
With the issues now seemingly resolved, Wednesday’s launch press conference is set to go ahead in London at 6pm BST.
Joshua climbed off the canvas twice, before stopping Kristian Prenga in July, meanwhile Fury overcame Mariusz Wach in seven rounds a day prior.
When asked for his Joshua Fury prediction, Hrgovic called for ‘AJ’ to retire and admits he’s giving him a slim chance of beating Fury, particularly following his last display.
“I think he should definitely retire after his next fight,” Hrgovic added.
“There’s always a puncher’s chance, but if we saw his last fight, I don’t give him too much of a chance.”
