Dubois vs Wardley: Derek Chisora believes Fabio Wardley will retire after Saturday’s rematch with Daniel Dubois.

Chisora will be an interested spectator when Wardley faces Dubois for a second time at the O2 Arena.

This time, Wardley heads in to the Dubois vs Wardley rematch as the challenger. He lost his WBO heavyweight world title in a punishing 11th round stoppage defeat in May in Manchester.

The Ipswich man activated his rematch clause. If he wins, he will join Dubois as a two-time heavyweight world champion if he is victorious.

However, veteran heavyweight Chisora is expecting the 31-year-old to call time on his career after suffering a second straight knockout loss.

“I think this is Wardley’s last fight,” he told talkSPORT. “I don’t think he wants to box anymore.

“This is his cash out. After three rounds, Daniel’s going to win it with a knockout.”

Fabio Wardley fires back

The former heavyweight champion lost for the first time in his 22-fight professional career.

Despite Chisora’s prediction, Wardley insists he has no intention of retiring. He has questioned the Londoner’s claims, particularly given the widespread calls for him to retire himself.

“I have no plans on retiring any time soon,” he told DAZN News.

“If anyone is flip-flopping about retiring, I think it’s ‘Del Boy’ himself.

“If you want to go with the general public and the way the world was going, they told him he should have retired about five years ago.

“He carried on and then said himself he was going to retire but hasn’t done so.

“Now, all of a sudden, he might have a fight with [WBA heavyweight champion] Murat Gassiev or something, so who knows?

“On the retirement front, I love Derek, he’s great, but that’s not someone I’m going to take any advice from.”
