Garcia vs Benn weigh in: Ryan Garcia and Conor Benn both came inside the welterweight limit ahead of their world title clash in Las Vegas.
Garcia will defend his WBC title against Benn at the T-Mobile Arena on Saturday.
Much of the pre-fight talk has centred around whether both men would make championship weight. Indeed, Garcia and Benn have both taken jibes at each other throughout fight week claiming they won’t make the 147 pound limit.
However, at the official weigh in at the Meta Apex on Friday morning, Garcia and Benn both made championship weight.
Conor Benn weight: 146 pounds
Benn, making the 147 pound limit for the first time in over four years, tipped the scales at 146 pounds.
Meanwhile, Garcia weighed just lighter than him at 145.5 pounds.
The last time Conor Benn made weight at the welterweight limit was prior to his bout with Chris van Heerden in April 2022.
After a drugs scandal and two bouts at 154 pounds, ‘The Destroyer’ fought Chris Eubank Jr twice at middleweight.
Conor Benn’s weight of 146 pounds was well down from the 149.6 he weighed in for his win over Regis Prograis in April.
Meanwhile, Garcia was a pound lighter than the 146.5 he weighed in before beating Mario Barrios in February to capture the WBC crown.
If Benn defeats Garcia, he’ll win a world title for the first time in his career. It would also make him just the sixth active British male world champion.
While, a win for his American rival will likely set up a unification fight. Possible opponents include a rematch with WBO champion, Devin Haney or WBA titlist, Teofimo Lopez, who gatecrashed Thursday’s final press conference at T-Mobile Arena.
The pair will come face-to-face for the final time at the ceremonial weigh in at 5pm PT at the Toshiba Plaza.
