Ryan Garner looks to close in on a maiden world title shot when he faces Michael Magnesi in a homecoming stadium fight in Southampton on Saturday.
Garner (19-0, 10 KOs) meets Magnesi (26-2, 13 KOs) for the WBC Interim super featherweight crown at St Mary’s Stadium.
‘The Piranha’ added the British and Commonwealth super featherweight titles to his European crown with a final round stoppage of Reece Bellotti last July.
The 28-year-old home favourite remained undefeated with a third round stoppage of Cristian Bielma in March and is ranked at two in the WBC.
Magnesi previously held the IBO super featherweight title, before shipping it to Anthony Cacace in a split decision loss in 2022.
The Italian has won three on the bounce since a final round defeat to Masanori Rikiishi in 2024.
The winner is on course to fight WBC world champion, O’Shaquie Foster.
